When I started on the Sirius dog pattern, I wasn't sure if I wanted to cut the dogs in half and swap them. But after I had both of the dogs made, they did look a little boring, so I went ahead and made the cut.
I wasn't sorry I did it.
Instead of making two mini-quilts, like the pattern did, I want to put both of them in the same quilt. Even though there's lots of color going on, I thought a setting with just these two dogs would be kind of boring.
So I fussy-cut my inspirational fabric and made some small blocks to throw in the mix. The quilt has to fit in an area 17" wide x either 24" or 35" long. To get a setting without any overlap, I'm going for the 17" x 35".
It took a bit of putzing to come up with a layout I liked, but with some additional punches of red and yellow, and small borders of the focus fabric, it should be OK. At least I thought so yesterday. We'll see what I think when I get back to this project tomorrow.
