Quilt Finish - Teapot

Yesterday I finished the small quilt that I'm going to put in my kitchen cupboard, behind my tea bags.

It's 11" tall and 13" wide.  The paper-pieced pattern is from the book Cups and Saucers by Maaike Bakker.

These cups could have been the color inspiration, but they weren't.  I guess I just like those colors so it wasn't hard to find something matching in my house that I could use as a prop.

I did echo quilting around the teapot and the shelf, then meandered over the teapot body. The "knob" on the teapot lid is a ceramic button.

Here's the back.

For the label, I fussy cut a cup of tea.  The muslin border is so I could write the words, and the wide orange border is because I like it - it's the same fabric used on the binding, but you can't really see it very well there.

The cups are tiny, just a couple of inches wide.  If only they were bigger, and the teapot was real, it would be perfect.

    1. Thanks Kitty. The fabric is leftover from potholders I made, from the same book as this teapot. Check out my Bowl Potholders post from March 2014. Sorry I don't know how to link to that from a comment.

    1. Thanks Kati. I picked cheery colors so it would be a nice welcome when I opened the cupboard door.
