Tea for Tuesday

Each Tuesday I'll be featuring a vignette of tea-related items.  Most of them will have one of my teapots; they all have at least one thing you could use at a tea party.

Out of all the teapots I own, I think this is the only valuable one.  It's very small - would hold one cup of water.  Maybe it's not even a teapot - maybe it's a creamer.  At any rate, it is really old, probably from the 1910s - 1920s, and is of obvious Arts and Crafts styling.  Most of the lettering on the bottom has worn off, so I can't find any information about it.

The book of plates (printing, not food) is the work of Eugene Alain Seguy (1889 - 1985).  Seguy was a French designer in the Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles, whose popularity peaked in the early 20th century.  His prints provided source material for designers of wallpaper, fabric, ceramics, book illustrations, posters, and advertisements.  His motifs were based on the natural world, particularly flowers and insects.

Although the teapot is not a Seguy design, I always find it cozied up to this book.

What a leftie sees.
