Autumn Road Trip

We've had lots of country drives the last few weeks, admiring the fall colors.  You have to look fast -  I never saw such a quick autumn!

Here's a quilt I made ten years ago.  The pattern is Bittersweet Autumn. The class sample was made with wool appliques leaves, but when I tried it, the quilt looked dull.  So I bought a "silk" scarf and fussy-cut the leaves out.  They had a nice gossamer quality that reflected the transient nature of leaves.

This was my first big effort at free-motion quilting.  It's still hard for me.
