We've had lots of country drives the last few weeks, admiring the fall colors. You have to look fast - I never saw such a quick autumn!
Here's a quilt I made ten years ago. The pattern is Bittersweet Autumn. The class sample was made with wool appliques leaves, but when I tried it, the quilt looked dull. So I bought a "silk" scarf and fussy-cut the leaves out. They had a nice gossamer quality that reflected the transient nature of leaves.
This was my first big effort at free-motion quilting. It's still hard for me.
