After showing my three kimono quilts that I made six years ago, I was in the mood to make a brand new one with modern fabrics. Sometimes moods come and go, but this one lingered. So, less than ten days after that first inkling, I had my fabric. And I didn't even have to try very hard.
I went to The Sewcial Lounge's third birthday party this past Saturday and bought a lot of fabric. One of my favorites was the striped material on the left - Jeni Baker's Mobius Stripe Warm from her just-released Geometric Bliss collection. I didn't have any plans for it, but once I got it home, I thought it would make a perfect border for a modern kimono quilt.
I went through my stash, looking for coordinates, but only found four. What to do? Why, go right back to The Sewcial Lounge, that's what. Even though I felt silly going there twice in one day, I justified it by the fantastic one-day sale that was going on.
I picked up five more fabrics from Geometric Bliss, and three from other lines. I can't wait to see it come together.
