October 15 is "I Love Lucy Day" because the show premiered on October 15, 1951. I couldn't resist these Lucy tchotchkes that I picked up at a garage sale this spring for a quarter each. That's worth it for the smile I get every time I look at them.
The thing I like about them is they are based on specific episodes - this one is "Job Switching." Watch the full episode here on Hulu. There's so many other funny parts to this episode aside from the most remembered one of not being able to keep up with the candy conveyor. Episodes were filmed in front a live audience, and it's fun to listen to their reaction.
I think these figurines were Christmas ornaments. They're from Hallmark, and I had to cut a little something off the top of Lucy's head. The detail is so nice, though.
This one is based on the episode "LA at Last", which was Lucille Ball's favorite. You can watch the episode here.
She sure looks like Barbie, doesn't she?
Looks like there's lots of episodes I haven't seen. I think I'll follow her; I have some catching up to do.
