Thursday is Purse Day - Valentine Purse

Well, isn't it nice that Valentine's Day falls on a Thursday this year?  Of course it's the perfect day to show the one and only Valentine Purse I made, back in November 2008.

It all started with the heart sequins.

The doily front, napkin flap, and ribbon handle are all from Wendy Richardson.  I bought them on a trip to the International Quilt Festival in Rosemont years ago.  Now I only have to travel to Madison's Quilt Expo to find her each fall.

The body of the purse is a big rectangle I knitted out of some very fuzzy mohair-ish yarn.  I hand stitched it to a cotton lining.

On the back of the purse you get a good view of Wendy's ribbon, which I used in the heart-shaped applique.

Some dangly beads on the back.

A peek into the inside.  The cotton lining has a heart motif.

This little guy on the inside holds the purse label with my name and the completion date.
