Not Just Another Pretty Face

During World War II, John Steinbeck was a war correspondent for the New York Herald Tribune.  He found that servicemen often carried good luck tokens into battle. One soldier carried a small wooden carving of a pig and during times of danger, he would say to it "Pig, this is not for us."
